Opening Reception: Friday, September 13, 6-8PM

Ise Cultural Foundation is pleased to announce
a coming exhibition, WATERwalks, the first exhibition of our 2002
- 2003 season. The exhibition includes eight contemporary artists
from different countries, relating with the thematic concept,
'water element from the Five-Element Theory.'
The
exhibition entitled, WATERwalks, explores the Five-Element (water,
wood, fire, earth and metal) Theory found in the contemporary
visual art works as well as in the process of creating artwork
by the artists of both Eastern and Western ethnic backgrounds.
Since it has become one of the major principles of Asian sciences
and philosophies, the theory has subsequently merged with Buddhism
and Confucianism through thousands years and it has been reflected
on the contemporary Asian cultures. Focusing on the Water-Element
from the five, the exhibition includes the artists and art works
that display how the dynamics of the Water-Element has been played
out in their art making.
